The meaning of "Haptik"

Haptic originates from the 1700s Greek word 'haptesthai' meaning "to touch". This is the tactile approach I take to help balance, restore and energise the body through the mediums of reflexology and reiki, be that physically or energetically in the aura field.

Haptik with a 'K' is simply my personalisation of this.

Reflexology

Reiki is a form of energy practice whereby 'universal energy' flows through my palms (as the facilitator) to you; encouraging clearing of physical and emotional issues and blockages, and restoring balance.. Working with the chakra system, my hands are placed on you or in your energy field (aura).

I will usually incorporate reiki into a reflexology session if this is something that you would like to explore.

Reflexology is an ancient non-invasive touch therapy mostly focused on the feet, as the feet can be seen as a microcosm for the rest of the body. Reflexology hopes to elicit a response of relaxation whereby the body is able to repair and restore itself.

The parasympathetic nervous system, aka the 'rest, digest and repair' system serves to combat our fight, flight and freeze responses after emergencies, high-stress situations or the ongoing pressures of daily life, and return the body to its natural activity and balance (homeostasis).

By tapping into this system (known as the second brain) through touching reflexes on the feet and using pressure points, the parasympathetic system is activated; heart and breathing rates will slow, blood pressure lowers and digestion is promoted. The more time we spend in this state, the healthier we are.

What you can expect...

I am a facilitator for your body to do what it naturally does - heal itself.

Your body may respond immediately to reflexology or reiki in various ways, as the emotional, physical and energetic channels release blockages. This can appear as digestive gurgles, paid or tingles, twitches, weeping eyes, even falling asleep as the result of deep relaxation.

Your natural mood enhancers, serotonin, dopamine, oxytocin and endorphins will also hopefully have been triggered to be released during your session, so you may feel great! But you may also over the following few days feel tired, emotional and some pain where toxins (physical or energetic) are releasing from the body. The healing surge means that sometimes we feel worse before we begin to feel better while things are being released, but every person is unique and so your responses will be too.
